Hey everyone,

At the beginning of October, I was given the wonderful opportunity to represent the young people of Ireland to attend a ‘Youth Innovation Conference’ in London, from the 6th-7th of October.

Been one to grab any opportunity there is and I also had never been on a plane before, of course I accepted the offer!

The conference was with an organisation named ‘YOUTHCAN’ (The Youth Civil Activism Network).

YOUTHCAN unites youth activists, artists and tech entrepreneurs to amplify efforts to counter violent extremism.

At the conference we were placed into groups and we were given two days to create content with simple resources in relation to the phenomenon of extremism in the UK and Ireland.

After various workshops and brainstorming sessions, Joesph, Azeez, Leonie, Amy, Hanna and I decided to create an online video campaign.

The aim of this video is to draw more attention to the refugee crisis and create empathy for the refugees amongst young people.

Due to four of us not been from England and the rest of our group was, the video is now finalised and live on the web.

‘Imagine your life has been turned upside down. Your friends and family are vanishing and your neighbourhood has turned to rubble. Your home and community are unrecognisable.

In 2015, 1 in every 122 people was displaced due to conflict or persecution. Half were under the age of 18. Don’t let them suffer in silence. Share this video to #KeepTheConversationGoing

If you could watch this video that would mean the world and I hope you are left feeling somewhat empowered after!
