Hello everyone, you hardly thought I would let this time of staying inside pass without a blog post?
I hope you are all keeping well, safe and sanitised.
So – let’s jump into it.
Have you been let go this week for a few weeks? Off college / school? You are finished your online work for the day and you’re looking for something to do?
Not to worry, I have created a post of plenty of things for you to do at this time.
- Gut out that room.
I mean, maybe you’ve moved home and you don’t really have much in your room anyways. But I’m sure you have a load of old bits and bobs that can be thrown away. Even if not, it’s always nice to reminisce on old photos and treasures. Throw out old bottles or products you haven’t used in a while.
If your space is clean, your mind most certainly feels more spacious.
Change your bedsheets.
You know what? Go mad, move the bed around.
Wash your makeup brushes.
2) Get up early.
It is best to set yourself with some sort of routine. Due to you spending the majority of the day at home and inside, if you follow a light routine, the days will pass swiftly.
Also, you will appreciate the sleep in on the weekend then. If you make it a daily thing, you will just get to a stage where you feel like you’re lying around doing nothing.
3) Get physical.
There are so many home workouts online. I found the majority of mine on YouTube videos and Instagram fitness pages. There are actually a lot of people at the moment doing some free home workouts.
Check out the pages @morleysmotivation @joshcowanconditioning @thehealthhubmayo on Instagram for some ideas. You can always message me if you would like to know the name of some fitness pages.
4) If you can’t go outside, go inside.
It is good to build your body, but maybe try building your mind too.
- It is a time for once, the future really is unknown – scary for those who suffer from anxiety. Try some daily mind exercises to help ease your thoughts.
- I use the apps ‘headspace’ and ‘calm’ for some daily meditation.
- ‘Yoga with Adriene’ on YouTube is fantastic for yoga too, it ranges from beginners to if you’re a yoga fanatic.
- Meditation and Yoga is brilliant for the body, mind and soul.
- Reading is a good idea. You could easily spend an hour playing ‘Snapchat’, so why not dive your head into a book? Audiobooks is always an idea too.
- Podcasts are just brilliant. Des Bishop is so funny, relatable and just pure class.
- Make playlists on Spotify.
5) Silly things to pass the time.
You know how your camera roll is full of all screenshots? Random photos saved from WhatsApp? Lecture notes? Time to clear your phone right up.
Delete old things you really don’t need. Create folders. Organise your life.
6) Self-care.
Facemasks, bubble baths, start a new Netflix show.
Of course, it’s important to stay busy in this time. But use these few weeks to have a proper rest for yourself. Re-charge your batteries.
What have you done for yourself? What have you done for your mental health?
Sleep. This time can be used to work on your personal life, rather than the hustle and bustle of the social and work life we are so busy to. Figure out your next step. Where would you like to go next?
Life is so fast paced. This time should be used to slow yourself down, appreciate the small things in life. Walking outside, spending time with family.
7) Take a leaf out of my book and bake something. Nothing more satisfying than seeing your baked goods come together.
Try some new recipes.
Check out my sister @francesbakernutrition on Instagram, she has loads of recipes.
Everything else I find myself online.
8) Take up a new hobby.
It is the best time to start something new. You have plenty of time to do so. Get more into fitness. Eat better. I’m sure every house has an old instrument in the attic somewhere. Write in a journal.
Honestly, take this time to gain new skills or pick up old hobbies that you used to do before your life stepped up a notch.
Easier to say, but to be honest – there is plenty there to do above for you to dig deep rather than spending hours on your phone.
Focus on some college work.
Focus on you.
Do the things you have been putting off for so long.
Turn this negative time to turn it into something positive.
Remember when life wasn’t all about festivities, parties and bars?
Take the little moments and make them powerful memories.
You will never regret time spent on investing in yourself.
It can be hard to start a new hobby and I am not saying you have to do all of these things, but why not try something new?
See you soon for some more posts.
Big love,
Ali X
